DAY-08: Port Augustus To The Isle Of Skye
Day – 08: Wednesday, August 30, 2017
Starting Location: Port Augustus, Scotland, UK
Interim Location: Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK
Ending Location: Port Augustus, Scotland, UK
Sheila and I had breakfast and then packed for the day's journey. On Tuesday we had sent down a load of laundry which had been returned last night. While packing the clean stuff, Sheila found that we were the recipients of two new shirts, neither of which would have fit she or me. Recalling the Norfolk TSA incident we thought that perhaps the TSA had agents working at the Lovat Hotel in Port Augustus, Scotland.
Should note that here and in other towns they have these "alien" looking signs posted, not sure what the message is or how I should interpret the signs while driving. Is it for hikers?
Our trip to the Isle of Skye began with us headed toward Invergarry. Again this would be a route through towns with great names, some longer than the main streets of said towns, such as Munergurie and Torriaoghseach.
We would pass by the picturesque Eileen Donan Castle near Dornie
and make the crossing to Skye over what else but the Isle of Skye Bridge (as seen in the borrowed photo).
Once on the Isle we followed the A87 to Portree a fishing and boating village on the east coast on the Sound of Raasay.
The Plan: The flapping owl scares away the seagulls.
The Reality: The seagulls ignore the owl.

Circling back we traversed the isle and returned along the west coast until rejoining the A87 back toward Invergarry.

The terrain was quite rugged and as we've become to accept the weather was variable, rain then sun but for today more rain.
Upon return to Port Augustus we dined at the hotel. Initially Sheila thought that a Bloody Joseph sounded like a good drink; here's the write-up what do you think?

I had the Pot Roast of Lamb it was great.
Soon it was back to the room, where we fired up the Internet and caught up on the day's news, weather, sports, messages, emails, Facebook, etc.
